Are you passionate about climate issues, flood risk assessment and climate-resilient cities? Do you have a background in engineering and IT, with research interests in flood hazard and risk modeling?

The University of Bologna invites applications for a 3-years PhD position, supported and co-funded by SaferPlaces, focusing on inundation modeling for flood risk intelligence, and mapping in cities and peri-urban areas. Prior experience with flood hazards, hydrodynamic modeling, geospatial data, and data science is recommended.

The research project aims to develop innovative flood hazard and risk assessment models suitable for generating high-resolution inundation scenarios for pluvial, fluvial, and coastal flooding. The models to be developed during the research project are fundamental components of climate services and digital twins of urban areas, which are innovative tools for managing hydrological risks and designing climate-resilient cities.
