SaferSat — Satellite-based Flood Mapping

SaferSat is the SaferPlaces module dedicated to rapid flood mapping using Copernicus Sentinel-1 SAR data. Leveraging an AI-based segmentation model, SaferSat detects flooded areas under all-weather and day-and-night conditions, even in complex urban and vegetated environments.

The module automatically compares pre- and post-event satellite acquisitions to identify flood-induced changes while filtering permanent water bodies and radar artefacts, delivering accurate and reliable flood extent maps within hours from data availability.
